Fine jewelry is an integral part of the red carpet. Check out some of the most noteworthy looks from the 2022 Oscars.

Fashion lovers eagerly anticipate the Academy Awards each Spring. The red carpet inspires fashion and jewelry trends as well as generating attention for talented designers. Jewelry is an integral part of the red carpet, and we’ve rounded up some of the most noteworthy looks this year.

Chokers are a Classic Choice

The neckline is arguably one of the most sensuous curves of the feminine form. These stars chose to beautifully accent their necklines with sultry chokers and short necklaces.

Catriona Balfe stunned in a vintage Van Cleef & Arpels bow-style diamond necklace. The pattern of the diamonds set in platinum and 18k white gold beautifully mimicked the metal chain straps of her dress. The emphasis on the metallic elements gave Balfe’s ruffled ivory gown a sleek, modern edge.

Zoe Kravitz selected a classic Kwiat diamond choker to accent her pale pink Saint Laurent gown. Resting at the base of her throat, the timeless necklace featured white diamonds in graduated sizes. The sparkling choker was perfectly balanced by Kravitz’ fresh pixie haircut.

Maddie Ziegler dressed up not-so-basic black with a chunky, short necklace and matching bracelet from the Swarovski collection. The oversized stones were both youthful and elegant, providing bold visual interest to Ziegler’s neckline and wrist.

Nature-inspired Elements

Many stars on this year’s red carpet opted for jewels that were reminiscent of natural objects. From graceful leaves to intriguing animals, this year’s nominees brought a wild touch to the sophisticated red carpet.

Mila Kunis’ diamond drop leaf earrings were a show-stopper. The elongated earrings framed her face and complemented Kunis’ one-shoulder, powder-pink gown. Her asymmetrical neckline and statement earrings created plenty of visual interest in place of a necklace.

Zendaya’s show-stopping look featured multiple elements from Bvlgari’s Serpenti collection. The wrap-around necklace was a strong statement when paired with Zendaya’s cropped blouse, while multiple snake-inspired coil bracelets completed the look.

Nicole Kidman chose a bold Harry Winston yellow and white diamond eagle necklace. The regal bird reflected the gentle winged neckline of her baby blue Armani Prive gown. The suggestion of flight gave Kidman’s ensemble a feeling of airiness.

Bold Colored Gems

The ultimate red carpet calls for brilliant colors. Classic white diamonds were frequently accompanied by stunning colored stones that added pops of color to each actor’s ensemble.

H.E.R. dazzled in a lemon-colored dress and a delicate emerald and diamond filigree-style necklace. The deep green emeralds in the Cleopatra-style necklace were a cool complement to her eye-catching, flowy dress.

Lupita Nyong’o’s De Beers button earrings featured multi-colored diamonds that echoed the golden and rosy hues of her sequined Prada ensemble. Nyong’o’s upswept hair showed off her perfectly-coordinated earrings with great flair. Natural colored diamonds have seen an increase in popularity in the last several years. With gorgeous colors like these, it’s easy to see why.

Marlee Matlin accented her bright red gown with a statement Harry Winston lapis lazuli drop necklace. It’s no wonder that this brilliant blue gem has been prized for thousands of years. Matlin continued the contrast in colors by pairing her lapis necklace with a vintage Van Cleef & Arpels blue sapphire and diamond ring.

Tiffany Haddish looked oh-so-glamorous in a form-fitting emerald-green dress and a Pomellato necklace featuring a large green tourmaline drop. The chain segment of Haddish’s necklace featured the iconic paperclip motif, made popular by style icon Jackie Kennedy
